چکیده
• Vol 10 • January 2008 Fibromyalgia and Autoimmune Diseases Fibromyalgia syndrome is a commonly encountered disorder characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain and related symptoms along with multiple painful tender points [1]. The pathogenesis of fibromyalgia is not entirely understood, although the current concept views the syndrome as the result of central nervous system malfunction resulting in amplification of pain transmission and interpretation [1]. Recent evidence suggests that genetic and environmental factors may play a role in the etiopathology of fibromyalgia and other related syndromes [1,2]. Fibromyalgia syndrome is common in patients with autoimmune disease and may be the source of many of the symptoms and much of the disability in these patients [3,4]. In this review we focus on the co-morbidity of fibromyalgia and autoimmune diseases, its prevalence and clinical implications.

Fibromyalgia, infection and vaccination: two more parts in the etiological puzzle.
As the pathogenesis of fibromyalgia continues to raise debate, multiple putative triggers have been implicated. The current review summarizes the available data linking fibromyalgia to either infection or vaccination. Multiple infectious agents have been associated with the development of either full-blown fibromyalgia (e.g. hepatits C), or with symptom complexes extensively overlapping with th...
متن کاملAnalysis of expression and function of the inhibitory receptor ILT2 (CD85j/LILRB1/LIR-1) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
The aim of this work was to study the expression and function of the inhibitory receptor ILT2/CD85j in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We studied 23 SLE patients as well as 17 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, 10 with fibromyalgia, and 23 healthy individuals. We found a variable level of expression of ILT2 in the PBMC from both ...

Objective(s): Fibromyalgia pain is a mysterious clinical pain syndrome, characterized by inflammation in the brain, whose molecular mechanisms are still unknown. Females are more commonly affected by fibromyalgia, exhibiting symptoms such as widespread mechanical pain, immune dysfunction, sleep disturbances, and poor quality of life. Electroacupuncture (EA) has been us...

BACKGROUND Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) that defines by prolonged fatigue and other manifestations, was recently integrated into a spectrum of central sensitivity syndromes including several diseases as fibromylagia. CFS etiology is multi-factorial commonly triggered by infectious agents. Vaccines, induce an immune response similarly to infections, and may trigger just like infections autoimm...
